The Johnston Center for Integrative Studies is a special program within the
University of Redlands focusing on individualized and interdisciplinary academic
study and the creation of a living/learning community of students and faculty.
The program has many components, from the residential life centered around the
Johnston dorms of Bekins and Holt to the graduation contract process and the
receiving of narrative evaluations instead of grades. Johnston was founded in
1969 as one of the first alternative education programs in the United States
and has continued in this tradition through to the present day. We invite you
to explore these pages and learn more about the Johnston experience!
